Thousand Feet | Diplopoda Class | Orthomorpha Sp. 

The word "Diplopoda" comes from the word "diplous" which means "double," and "podos" which means "foot." This refers to two pairs of numbers of legs in each body segment.

This largest Myriapoda class is very diverse and consists of 16 orders. Most millipedes are detritivores, and form humus from the remains of plants.

They are present in various terrestrial ecosystems, also in habitats in the soil. This animal is not an aquatic organism, although there are species that can survive for months in the water.

Even though the name "Millipede" means "millipede," but no one reaches that number. The foot record is at most 750 of the Illacme plenipes species. The large number of feet is caused because each segment of his body has two pairs of legs.

One segment of the body is actually two segments joined together, this is the main characteristic of this animal. As with the centipede, the foot on the Diplopoda is located at the bottom of the body.

Another characteristic of millipedes is that there is a pair of antennas on the head, eye spots, mandible and gnathochilarium. Gnathochilarium, also called "lip jaw" is formed from a pair of maxilla. After the head there is a segment without legs, three segments with a pair of legs, and then the segment with two pairs of legs in each segment.

Millipedes do not have venomous claws, but they protect themselves with thick skin and secrete toxins. This makes predators reluctant to prey on this poisonous animal.

This is one of the world biodiversity that can be found.
